Last May I graduated from NYU Stern and Wagner with two Masters degrees, one of Business Administration (MBA) and one of Public Administration (MPA). These two sector-focused, generalist degree programs allowed me to explore my curiosities and passions, fill gaps in my financial and economics knowledge, and apply the skills that I learned consulting at Deloitte in the social impact arena. A program like this was indulgent on one hand, and on the other hand, expensive! After consulting for start-ups, nonprofits, and social enterprises in New York City, Spring 2025 is the hard launch of my solo-preneurship impact career. In many ways graduate school felt like I was in hibernation, and now I’m awake!

I am open to:

  1. creating roles and applying for open positions within NGOs, democratic institutions, and companies where I can employ my skills

  2. international opportunities in humanitarian aid and democracy work

  3. paid freelance media jobs to support myself financially as I pursue 1 & 2

Ukraine Torch

I met my former boss from Deloitte, Jonathan Leathers, for lunch in early March. He has just returned to New York from Kyiv, Ukraine, and the meeting quickly turned into one of a recruitment nature. Partnering with other humanitarian leaders and volunteers, Jonathan has bootstrapped an NGO called Ukraine Torch to support frontline Ukrainian troops with needed supplies, technology, first-aid, training.

We hadn’t seen each other in more than four years, after I reported directly to him for several years on multiple consulting engagements. I was thrilled to get an in-person update on the NGO, now with 501c3 status, and hear inspiring stories about the fight for democracy in Ukraine. Jonathan invited me to join the all-volunteer NGO, and I asked how I can help.

Here are the plans!

Summer 2024 Adventures

After graduation I headed to the NORTH AMERICAN WEST with my chihuahua Harvey for some much-needed family and friend time. With stops in my home state of Oregon, as well as Colorado, Alaska, and British Columbia, I expected this to be my last summer of freedom before settling into a cross-sector sustainability and human rights job back in New York.

After three years in school, it was time to start paying down my quarter mil in student loan debt. Earnestly, I was eager to get to work, but uncertainty led into the 2024 Election, the outcome has resulted in a national crisis, and I struggled to find my footing in the new political landscape.

I have had to reimagine how I can make an impact independent of companies and organizations lacking dynamism, without asking for permission, without seeking validation from respected experts.

Now I’m on Substack!

(maybe seeking a tiny little bit of validation from respected experts)
